    Dear Board of Supervisors,

Here, I strongly protest against the Resolution #171070 [Accept and Expend Gift – Comfort Women Justice Coalition – Gift of Artwork and Funds for the Maintenance of the Artwork Entitled “Comfort Women’s” Column of Strength – Total Gift Value of 398,000], indicated in the link below; https://sfgov.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=574018&GUID=F3CDEBB0-9FB2-4C74-BB93-B198A0DD8F18

I believe that San Francisco has kept attracting people all over the word because of the rich sense of community. By adopting the resolution, it will unnecessary bring the confusion and hatred into the city, which destroys the multi-cultural good society that SF has remained over years and years.

About the so-called Comfort Women, according to the IWG report submitted to Congress in 2007, there is no concrete evidence about the so-called Comfort Women (Please refer the link below: https://www.archives.gov/files/iwg/reports/final-report-2007.pdf .)
San Francisco should not make the historical judgement without verifications.

Besides, the comfort women issue deals with matters between foreign governments, which has nothing to do with SF.

I believe that San Francisco has intended to raise more awareness and attention of the public over the human rights with this artwork project. If so, I believe, it is more worth for the gift money to be spent for the victims of sex trafficking happening right this moment.

    Sincerely,

Do you think why this issue happened ?

Here is an interesting study published by Stanford University, which compares school textbooks in several Asian countries and the United States.
It sees with this study that, contrary to what many gens* believe, Japanese textbooks are more neutral, mainly tell the facts, then in other countries (China and Korea for example), a part of the story is changed or omitted for the patriotic interests.

I think their education to fan hatred not peace against Japan.
Unfortunately, these practices will not help countries to understand better.

The resolution will create conflict between Chinese and Korean background citizens and Japanese background citizens in SF.
It is not good in your multicultural society.

Here are the links that summarize this study :

Divided Memories: History Textbooks and the Wars in Asia
    http://www.nippon.com/en/in-depth/a00703/

gens:les *beaucoup visits to Yasukuni, the differences between China and Japan on Nanjing, comfort women and the image of a very nationalist Japanese Government presented by foreign newspapers convey this impression.

    Sincerely,

    Dear Board of Supervisors,

I strongly protest against the Resolusion of #171070.
    I am 71years old man.
In old Japan, many Japanes and Korean girls were sold by their poor parents to such a shop to help her family.
